Kenya is often referred to as the land of the original safari and boasts several well known parks and reserves teeming with wildlife, leaving safari-goers spoilt for choice. You can expect to see the Big Five when on a safari adventure in Kenya and for a truly magical experience, fly through the clouds on a hot air balloon across the Masai Mara or head out on an exciting horseback safari.
There’s scenic splendor in every corner of this country, with its snow-capped mountains, vast savannahs, grand lakes and unspoiled powder-white beaches... a firm favourtie with families.

When to Visit Kenya
Game viewing is at its best during Kenya’s winter months of June to October, when skies tend to be clear and sunny. Temperatures are enjoyably warm and range from 23°C in higher altitude areas such as the Masai Mara, to 28°C in lower altitude areas nearer the coast.
July to October is a peak time to visit as it coincides in part with the UK summer holidays as well as the Great Migration, meaning parks can get busy.
The wet season, between November and May sees an increase in rainfall, but for the most part showers are short, making this a perfect time to visit if you’re looking to avoid peak rates and busier parks. During the rainy season, plains are greener and in January and February, newborn animal sightings are highly probable... as are the predators they attract.
From March to May continuous rain can occur and as a result some lodges close for the period.
The best time to visit Kenya's stunning coast differs from the optimal months for safari adventures inland. Whilst weather on the Kenyan coast is hot year-round, the beaches are most pristine from October to April, where winds are gentle, waters are calmer and little seaweed washes up on shore.

Getting to Kenya
Direct flights from London to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the main airport in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, run regularly with a duration of under 9 hours. Flights from other UK airports to Nairobi vary in journey time based on your carrier and will require a stopover.
Heading to Mombasa? Mombasa is easily reached via a short internal flight from Nairobi.
Speak to your retreat designer about turning a stopover into a short stay of its own, as part of an exciting Kenya multi-centre itinerary.
