When to Visit Madagascar
Madagascar’s main dry season across most of the island is from May to October. April and November are shoulder months when the seasons change and fewer tourists make for an excellent time to visit. The conditions during the dry season are pleasantly warm so perfect for hiking, and April and May in particular see lush greenery sprawl over from the rainy season gone by. October and November are the best for wildlife viewing as adult lemurs welcome their newborns into the world, many snakes and lizards come out of hibernation and birds are in mating season.
The wet season, from December to March, see heavy rainfall across the eastern and northern parts of the island, so we recommend staying on the southern coast of the island during these months.
