Madagascar Retreats

This secluded island paradise is where Mother Nature is truly all around you. Madagascar boasts a diverse array of landscapes, from lush rainforests which support fascinating, endemic wildlife and pristine beaches with the most colourful reefs, to dramatic waterfalls which pool into natural lagoons and even colonial city scenes… the list goes on.

With so much to see, two weeks in this protected eco haven can fly by and with warm local hospitality that’s unparalleled to others, it’s easy to see why so many travellers fall head over heels for this Indian Ocean gem.

When to Visit Madagascar

Madagascar’s main dry season across most of the island is from May to October. April and November are shoulder months when the seasons change and fewer tourists make for an excellent time to visit. The conditions during the dry season are pleasantly warm so perfect for hiking, and April and May in particular see lush greenery sprawl over from the rainy season gone by. October and November are the best for wildlife viewing as adult lemurs welcome their newborns into the world, many snakes and lizards come out of hibernation and birds are in mating season.

The wet season, from December to March, see heavy rainfall across the eastern and northern parts of the island, so we recommend staying on the southern coast of the island during these months.

Getting to Madagascar

Flights from the UK to Madagascar vary in journey time based on your carrier and will require connecting flights, of which there are several choices. Speak to your retreat designer about turning a stopover into a short stay of its own, as part of an exciting Madagascar multi-centre itinerary.

In Madagascar, you’ll arrive into Antananarivo Airport or Fascene International Airport if your heading straight to Nosy Be, where we’ll have arranged for a transfer to take you to your lodge or resort.
