Both countries are beautiful and captivating beyond words, each with their own unique charm. Cocooning volcanoes, dense jungles, great lakes and rare wildlife encounters... a dream come true for any nature enthusiast.

When to Visit Rwanda & Uganda

Gorilla and most primate trekking is best during Rwanda’s and Uganda's drier months, between June to September and December to February. Temperatures during these months can be cool, depending on where you are, dropping to around 16°C in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. Vegetation isn’t as thick in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park or the savannah reserves of Uganda during the drier months, making it easier to spot wildlife.

June to September is generally considered high season and whilst parks don’t feel crowded, lodges and gorilla trekking permits are booked up far in advance.

November, October, March, April and May are rainier months, the latter three being the wettest. During these months it's not unusual for long periods of rain, several days in a row, to occur. Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking can be difficult during these long-rain months owing to slippery forest trails.

Getting to Rwanda & Uganda

Direct flights are available from London to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, however flights from most UK ariports will include a stopover. Likewise, flights to Uganda from the UK will require a stopover.

Speak to your retreat designer about turning a stopover into a short stay of its own, as part of an exciting multi-centre itinerary.

Once you land at your final arrival airport, we’ll arrange for a private road transfer to take you to the first stop of your itinerary.
